Individual Therapy

Perhaps this is the first time you have considered therapy. Perhaps you have tried it before and either it wasn't helpful, or it was, but you are looking for a new approach. Many factors contribute to our struggles in life. Problematic relationships, depression and anxiety, addiction, compulsive behaviors, difficulty coping with stress, self esteem challenges, career difficulties, life transitions (such as being a new parent, retirement, or aging), and circumstances such as divorce, death of a loved one or pet, health issues or family struggles often invite us to ask for help.

If you’re single, recovering from a break up, enbarking on the dating scene, or need to improve your support system, I offer guidance in navigating these areas.

Depending on your personality, your upbringing and current circumstances, one can develop ineffective strategies that impede the goal of enjoying life. My approach examines these patterns and provides understanding, using unique tools to establish new ways of thinking and behaving, with the end goal of reaching a happier, more peaceful and contented life.

I accept some insurance for individual therapy and use the techniques outlined on the "About" page

Couples Therapy

Do you and your partner keep having the same conflict or issues relating to each other? Does this dynamic seem to continue despite your efforts to change? In Relational Life Therapy we address this seemingly entrenched pattern of struggle.

Ineffective relationship strategies are often solidified over time, often years. They generally develop early in our lives and get solidified in our personality. And yet when we try to alter the pattern, parts of us seem stubborn to change.

If this is true for you, you are in luck! Relational Life Therapy discovers your pattern and thoughtfully and specifically addresses ways to change these patterns. My job is not to blame. I am here to hold both partners accountable and compassionately guide you into new relationships skills to change your dysfunctional patterns. Communication, negotiation, emotional and physical connection skills are all addressed.

I have been an RLT certified therapist for 15 years. Now serving as faculty to the Relational Life Institute, with the goal of training therapists, as well as providing relationship skills to the community at large.

Please visit www.relationallife.com and www.terryreal.com  for more information. And visit the resource page for books and articles.

I do not accept insurance for couples therapy. Please contact me for questions regarding my fees.

Couples' Intensive

a 1-2 day intensive therapy experience

If you are looking for a more in-depth couples' experience, I offer a 1 or 2 day (6 hours each day) session framework. During the one or two days, I do a thorough assessment of your relationship issues. In this assessment, your ineffective strategies are identified. These strategies are generally learned in childhood and get entrenched in our relationship pattern with our partners. New skills and learning are incorporated in this experience. Progress is accelerated and amplified in a more concentrated way. If desired, I can then do follow-up sessions online or in person to keep you on track, or refer you to an RLT therapist. If you are unsure if your relationship is worth saving, this intensive can also help you determine if the relationship is salvageable.

Cost starting at $1250.
